Empire Period Mahogany Cylinder Desk
An Empire period cylinder desk in Cuban mahogany. The upper section opens to reveal three drawers and three compartments lined with braided leather. The cylinder reveals a pilastered interior with a sliding writing surface in braided leather, small drawers, and compartments. Bronze handles with dolphin heads. The lower section opens to reveal three drawers in the frieze and two side pull-out slides. The interior fittings and drawer bottoms are mahogany. The base consists of flat columns ending in claw feet and baluster stretchers. Original locks and a secret cylinder opening mechanism. Excellent condition. Early 19th century.
