Biedermeier-style False Secretary, Germany, Ca. 1820
A faux Biedermeier-style secretary desk, whose upper section—shaped like a temple—features three doors: a central mirrored door flanked by two blackened columns. Below, the front is designed to resemble that of a secretary desk, with a writing surface suggested by a drop-down panel and four drawers. In reality, this section is a door that opens on the right side. The piece is veneered in cherry wood; it has been restored and hand-polished.
