The model depicted is identified as Pierre Marcel Lesclide, a close friend of Toulouse-Lautrec, an oyster farmer based in Taussat, Gironde. This figure appears several times in other drawings from the same sketchbook, attesting to the close relationship between the artist and his model. Pierre Marcel Lesclide is mentioned in the archives as a retired oyster farmer or oyster farmer. He was married to Marie Antoinette Élise Saint-Martin. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the Toulouse-Lautrec Committee dated July 10, 2019, guaranteeing its attribution and its significance within the artist's graphic oeuvre.
