" 19th Century Set Of Six Small Kutani Cups"
Refined set of six small Kutani porcelain cups with lids. The cups feature a ringed foot, with a manufacturer's signature on the bottom, and a lobed lid with a flower-shaped handle. The pieces are distinguished by painted decorations in shades of red and brown, with gold trim, and feature various motifs, including geometric, floral, and butterfly motifs, which contribute to the overall elegance. It is also noteworthy that the floral motif is found both inside the cup and inside the lid. This set of cups was used in Japan for Chawanmushi, a famous pudding served as an appetizer. These cups are objects of great taste and refinement, capable of lending a touch of class and antiquity to any setting. Made in Japan by Kutani, from the Meiji period, circa 19th century.
