"Early 19th Century Lacquered Column Clock"
Elegant column clock in lacquered and painted wood. The clock is lacquered in aquamarine and adorned with painted decorations featuring plant and geometric motifs, reminiscent of the "grotesque" style and lending a sense of understated elegance. The structure features a simple, slender stem and a case with a glass front and sides, which opens from the front via a small door. Inside, the clock features a working mechanism, including a Roman numeral dial adorned with plant decorations. The case, which houses the pendulum and two weights, can also be opened in the middle. The base also opens like a door and is painted to resemble marble. This is a well-crafted clock, capable of tastefully decorating any space. French manufacture, early 19th century.
