"Joseph Milon. Bathers 1929."
Joseph Milon was born in 1868 in Gordes (Vaucluse) and died in 1947 in Aix-en-Provence. A painter of genre scenes, nudes, portraits, animated landscapes, and mural compositions, he was also a sculptor and illustrator. He led a dual career as a lawyer and painter. In 1910, he decided to devote himself solely to painting. He studied under the sculptor Henri Pontier and the painters Honoré Gibert, Joseph Villevieille, and later Alphonse Moutte at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. He painted mural compositions and, in 1930, illustrated Curet's novel *Femme morte, chapeau neuf* (Dead Woman, New Hat). Works by the artist are held in the Granet Museum and the Musée du Vieil Aix in Aix-en-Provence, as well as in Cannes and Carpentras.
