A painter of landscapes, genre scenes, and portraits, Henri Émile Vollet trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of Fernand Cormon. A member of the Salon des Artistes Français, he won a bronze medal at the 1900 World’s Fair. An avid traveler, he spent extended periods in Indochina, where he drew much of his inspiration, while also creating several works in Brittany. His art, characterized by a delicate touch and subtle light, reflects a keen eye for landscapes and scenes of everyday life.
