Winemaker, 1820: Rare Handwritten Measure Of 300 Hectoliters, Turned Burl Wood
Artist: Art Populaire
A rare and unique object, handwritten in ink on a fine linen ribbon over 5 meters long, it contains measurements for capacity of barrels and casks, with, as veltes, non-equidistant measurements faithfully transferred by hand, capable of measuring up to a capacity of 300 hectoliters.
Reel is superb, made of turned walnut burl, with a small brass crank and a bone knob.
Object is beautiful and complete; I have checked it. It has been used and shows normal signs of wear, nothing serious.
The wooden box is typical of the 1820s-30s.
Height: 6 cm. Diameter: 7 cm. Length: over 5 meters.
