Faceted Steel Jewelry, 18th Century: Pair Of Women's Shoe Buckles
Among the most beautiful shoe buckles that I could find, curved, model with iron loops below, they are gilded brass lace on one side, pierced by dozens of holes, each one, (or almost) riveted with a polished steel element, cut of diamond points.
Straight upper part allowed sewing on textile, one ribbon passed below, they are good size: 6 cm x 4.5 cm,
finess of decorations, contrast between gilding and polished steel, and great care of the craftsman.
No flaw, apart from a few barely visible missing ferrets: 3 or 4 per buckle, One loop has disappeared. .
