Lantern of Genoa, Liguria, Italy. The Lanterna is the name given to the port lighthouse of the city of Genoa, capital of the Liguria region. It is located on the promontory of San Benigno, a short distance from Sampierdarena, and is a square tower 76 meters high. This mid-19th-century view depicts the port lighthouse as ships enter the harbor, sails down, heading for anchorage. Watercolor on paper, signed lower left "Lucas 48". Sheet dimensions: 16 x 13 cm. Mounted: 34.9 x 30.9 cm.
