Yo Ichikawa (1929-...) Acrylic Painting on Panel 1967 Untitled 1967 Abstraction by Yo Ichikawa Acrylic Painting on Panel Yo Ichikawa was born in 1929 in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. He studied at the Kyoto University of Art, Japan. He has been active as a painter and printmaker since 1966 in Paris. Lise Cormery wrote his biography in *The Art of the Post-War School of Paris*. Solo exhibitions in Paris and Tokyo. His Six Iconographic Works are in the National Library of France. Alain Peyrefitte writes of his work, "Perhaps never before has anyone gone as far as Yo Ichikawa in the search for mathematical abstraction. It is more than abstract art. It is algebraic art, since it combines possible arrangements like the different solutions of an equation with multiple unknowns. It is geometric art, since the geometric figures, and even, in a trompe-l'œil effect, the geometry in space, articulate with one another. An art through which mathematical schemes, which seemed to turn their backs on art, are reconciled with it." Dimensions:
