Panel Painted With The Coat Of Arms Of The Maréchal Duc De Noailles, Governor Of Roussillon 18th Century
Interesting wooden panel painted with the coat of arms of Louis de Noailles (1713-1793), comte then 1er duc d'Ayen (1737-1766) then 4e duc de Noailles (1766-1793), marquis de Montclar et de Maintenon, comte de Nogent-le-Roi, baron de Chambres, was a Marshal of France, born in Versailles on April 21, 1713 and died in Saint-Germain-en-Laye on August 22, 1793.
From 1766 to 1791, Maréchal de Noailles was Governor of the Province of Roussillon, headquartered in Perpignan.
Our panel bears at its center the Noailles coat of arms, de gueules à la bande d'or. The blazon is girded with the two collars of the Orders of St. Michael and St. Spirit, and is furthermore ensigned by the ducal crown, set on the fleurdelysed batons of the Marshals of France in saltire, all on an ermine mantle.
This interesting testimonial to eighteenth-century honors would have adorned an official or public place that honored the Gouveneur du Roussillon, perhaps the Palais des Rois de Majorque or the Hôtel de Ville de Perpignan.
Dimensions : 40 x 54,7 cm
