A very fine small work by Narcisse Hénocque depicting herrings, a popular theme among painters.
Executed with skillful brushstrokes, broad strokes, and shimmering colors—ochres, reds, pinks, and a touch of green—it was painted around 1910.
Signed lower rignt
Narcisse Hénocque (1879–1952) was a painter of the Rouen School and exhibited regularly at the Rouen Salon alongside Antoine Pinchon, Narcisse Guilbert, and other local artists.
Oil on cardboard. Dimensions: 40 x 28 cm.
Framed with a 2 cm wide wooden strip.
