Control mark: P / crowned ff / 1707. (P initial of Paris and ff for fine pewter)
Incompletely applied mark of Etienne BACQUET, received as master in 1680: E.BACQVET / FINE PEWTER / sailboat: 1680. The last image shows this same, better-struck hallmark found on another coin encountered previously.
Height: 24.8 cm.
PARIS, Between 1707 and 1715.
Superb quality and condition. This elegant model, inspired by goldsmithing, was also adopted by earthenware and glassmakers. Etienne Bacquet died in 1713, and his widow continued the business until 1715, using her late husband's hallmark.
It's worth noting that Louis XIII regulated the design of the maker's mark in 1643, and Louis XIV established the control mark in 1691.
