Miniature - Portrait of a Young Woman Returning from the Garden, 19th Century.

A beautiful miniature painted on ivory depicting a young aristocratic woman in a bust-length portrait, facing forward. Her right arm rests on a basket filled with flowers. The blue-eyed sitter wears an elegant blue-green dress with a laced bodice, adorned with a lace neckline and a white muslin scarf draped over her shoulders. Her hair is styled in curls and adorned with a yellow straw hat decorated with flowers and blue ribbons. A pearl necklace completes her attire.

The delicate treatment of the face, the fine execution of the textiles, and the subtlety of the pastel tones testify to the miniaturist's great skill. The predominantly blue-gray background highlights the sitter's delicate complexion.

The miniature bears a signature in the center right (to be deciphered).

The work is in very good condition. It is presented in its original frame of burnished wood and gilt bronze with guilloché decoration, also in very good condition.
