Chinese Gilt Bronze Incense Burner Decorated With A Foo Dog, Qing Period, 19th Century

Chinese incense burner in gilt bronze with a decor of Chien de Fô, 19th century Qing period

When the objects of use become true works of art.

Resulting from the Chinese craftsmanship of the 19th century during the Qing period (1644-1911), this incense burner is made of gilded bronze.

Covered with carved patterns, engraved from Chinese culture, we find elements of Chinese Feng Shui folklore such as the Fô Dog or Lion protector at the top of the censer, a paw placed on a sphere, symbol of the universe, roaring to ward off evil spirits & negativity.

The handles take a free and organic shape, inspired by air, once purified by the scented smells of the censer, with cloud patterns. Its handles end at the base with Lion heads fô as mascaron, the four feet are also shaped like Lion heads Fô, from whose mouths a hanging tongue springs, which serves as the feet for the whole.

This is a set of three elements: lid, body & base. The whole being in very good general condition, usage can be noted, which is consistent with its age & use.

Perfect to be used again, or as an object of decoration or even a collection, this censer or incense burner from China will be perfect in a refined interior sensitive to the charms of Feng Shui and Chinese Mythology!

Fast & neat shipping in France, Europe & worldwide.
