Helmet of an officer of the National Guard Cavalry of Paris. Model 1814 / Hundred Days. Silvered copper shell, with all fittings in gilt brass. Front plate depicting a large oval shield, this shield is surmounted by the royal crown and framed on each side by a palm frond and an oak branch. Modified by the addition of a shako plate of the 1806 model for an officer of the 1st Regiment surmounted by a gilt imperial eagle (for the 1st Regiment of the National Guard Cavalry of Paris). Hundred Days period, First Empire. Molded rear band in relief. Silvered copper visor lined with waxed morocco leather and edged with a folded rim over the outer edge. Neck guard identical to the visor, lined with replaced morocco leather. Chin straps composed of two chin straps of fine leather covered in velvet, covered with gilt brass scales cut into scallops; Two sunburst rosettes, in the center of which is a lion's head. Crest in three parts: two wings and a mask. Bearskin chenille. Interior lining composed of a black waxed calfskin band cut into a wolf's tooth pattern (with reinforcements of fine scarlet leather). France. First Restoration 1814, modified during the Hundred Days, First Empire; by the addition of an officer's plate from the 1st Regiment of the National Guard Mounted Troops of Paris.
