In 1955, these vases were converted into lamps by the Maldora house, a renowned Parisian workshop located at 112 rue Jouffroy in Paris, specializing in the adaptation and enhancement of antique works of art. This transformation is part of a 20th-century tradition that sought to integrate historical pieces into contemporary use while respecting their original character and authenticity. The addition of a carefully executed electrical system and lampshades emphasizes the volumes and decorative details of the vases, creating a dialogue between 19th-century Chinese craftsmanship and the decorative taste of post-war Paris. This ensemble thus illustrates the continuity of artistic exchange between East and West, as well as the evolution of uses and aesthetic sensibilities over time.
