"Mahogany Commode, Egyptian Revival Style, Empire Period – Early 19th Century"
A superb Egyptian Revival mahogany commode, topped with an elegant Belgian gray granite marble slab. It opens with three tall drawers, their fronts veneered in mahogany leaves, revealing a refined grain and a deep color. Each drawer is adorned with its original gilt-bronze lion-head ring handles, as well as a period lock with its original string escutcheon and fitted Empire key. The interior of the commode is carefully lined with wooden dust covers, highlighting the quality of its craftsmanship. The side uprights are magnificently adorned with chased bronze capitals, resting on tapered pilasters, and terminating in a molded bronze pedestal. The chest of drawers rests on a projecting plinth, and its front legs are distinguished by their toupie shape. With its harmonious proportions, this chest of drawers, over two centuries old, perfectly preserved and restored, combines elegance and functionality with its spacious drawers and superb fittings. **********Period: Empire, early 19th century.
