Mahogany Marquetry Coffee Table, Louis XVI Style – 1920
This Louis XVI style side table is crafted from finely worked mahogany veneer, with a checkerboard pattern in the center of the tabletop, creating a play of luminous contrasts. Around the checkerboard, a light wood band and mahogany leaf veneer arranged in a butterfly wing pattern create a refined motif that energizes the surface while respecting the classic elegance of the furniture. The apron features two discreetly placed side drawers, deep enough to accommodate small decorative items while maintaining the harmony of the decor. Between the legs, a stretcher shelf ensures the stability of the piece and provides additional storage space. This shelf is surrounded by a finely chiseled openwork gallery that lends lightness and refinement to this side table. The tapered legs, with a clean and elegant silhouette, are tapered at the base. Each leg terminates in brass sabots that enhance the overall look with a warm metallic touch and protect the ends of the wood. The joinery and stringing demonstrate precise and meticulous cabinetmaking. This center table is perfectly suited as a coffee table, end table, or accent piece in a classic or contemporary interior. *******Period: 1920. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
