Empire-period Mahogany Chest Of Drawers.

A mahogany-veneered chest of drawers with four drawers on the front, arranged in four rows, resting on four legs, the front legs being lion’s-paw feet.

The top drawer, which has no lock, is divided into compartments.

It is embellished with chiseled bronze trim on the side panels and handles, depicting friezes of palmettes and flowers. It is topped with a gray marble slab, likely from the same period.

There is a beautiful contrast between the mahogany’s hue and the gray marble, accentuated by the gilding.

Cracks in the veneer are visible along the entire length of both side panels. A crack is also visible at the bottom of the penultimate drawer, in the lower section. Slight dents visible on the right side.

Chip marks on the tabletop and its front edge.
