"Pair Of Celadon Electrified Oil Lamps, Napoleon III Period – Second Half Of The 19th Century"
This pair of electrified celadon porcelain oil lamps dates from the second half of the 19th century, during the reign of Napoleon III. They perfectly embody the eclectic and refined taste of that era. The body of each lamp takes the form of a celadon porcelain vase, its pale green hue reminiscent of the delicacy of Asian ceramics. It is subtly decorated with translucent white flowers in low relief, adding a touch of poetry and refinement to the whole. These floral motifs seem almost to float on the surface, capturing the light with discreet grace. At the base and neck of the lamp, the ornamentation, featuring scrolls and foliage, is in gilt bronze. This adds a visual warmth that contrasts elegantly with the coolness of the celadon. The frosted glass globe at the top is adorned with floral-inspired decorative motifs that gently diffuse the light, creating subtle reflections and accentuating the lamps' antique charm when lit.*******Period: Second half of the 19th century.
