"Small Rosewood Display Case Writing Desk – Part 2, 19th Century"
A rosewood display cabinet, its upper section composed of two glazed doors adorned with delicate carved scrolls and fitted with a working lock and key. The whole is crowned by a molded cornice highlighted by an elegant gadrooned frieze. The projecting lower section of this two-part cabinet conceals an ingenious sliding compartment above, revealing a writing surface lined with new black leather, enhanced with a gilt vignette and a refined central motif. On either side, slender balusters frame this space, and at the back are three small drawers and a spacious storage niche. Finally, two solid doors, each with a lock, reveal three wide sliding drawers when opened. This piece, with its compact dimensions and meticulous craftsmanship, is as appealing for its functionality as for the beauty of its rosewood tones. Ideal for combining aesthetics and practicality in a characterful interior.********Period: Second half of the 19th century. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop. Waxed finish.
