**************
Very rare set of eight identical pewter plates with scalloped and molded rims.
All are hallmarked by an unidentified maker:
1° - Saint Michael with a shield slaying the dragon / initials (-).E
2° - crowned rose / initials TE
Diameter: 24 cm.
BRUSSELS, Second half of the 18th century.
In very good condition and of high quality in both material and finish. Some knife marks, a few stains, and slight pitting are noted on some of them. The reverses have acquired their patina.
It is extremely rare to find such sets of plates from the same mold; of course, these plates can be returned to their original function: the table.
Bibliography: "Tinmerken van belgië en naburige steden" by Tony Dangis, who did not identify this hallmark.
