"Large Pair Of Chairs By Pierre Nogaret. Circa 1750."
An exceptional pair of Queen Anne style chairs, attributed to Pierre Nogaret and dating from the so-called "Nogaret-Paris" period (1745-1755). The wide, double-molded seat rails are carved on the front with large Rocaille leaves. The strongly curved legs are carved at the bottom of the front feet with an incredible "naturalistic" Rocaille-style mirrored carving. This motif is in itself a signature of P. Nogaret's early period. In very good condition (a small burn mark at the bottom of one backrest is visible in the photos). Solid walnut of fine quality. No restoration to report.
