A Siamese Cloth Monogrammed Hm - French Countryside, 19th Century
Second half of the 19th century, France. A rustic Siamese bedsheet for a 140 cm wide double bed, from the French countryside. Stiff and crisp, woven on a handloom with a cotton warp and hemp weft. Two full panels, hand-sewn down the center, bear the monogram HM, embroidered in red cross-stitch, at one end. This sheet has been washed, boiled using traditional methods, and then ironed. It has no holes or stains and is ready for use as bed linen in a country house or farmhouse. Note that all the seams are hand-sewn! Very good condition. Dimensions: 255 cm high by 200 cm wide.
