Biedermeier Birchwood Secretary Desk, Germany, Circa 1830
A Biedermeier birch veneer secretary desk comprising a three-drawer base, a flat-folding writing surface, and a top drawer. The cylindrical upper section, with a single door, S-shaped scroll supports, and a triangular pediment, crowns the composition. Blackened oval rosettes accent the drawers. The interior is architecturally structured, with nine drawers arranged around a central compartment supported by cabinet-style column supports and a pediment. The drawer fronts are decorated with lozenge-shaped inlays and small brass knobs. Expertly restored and polished.
