A highly decorative, high-quality complete set from the late 19th century in the Louis XV style. Finely chiseled with twisted foliage and richly ornamented, the gilt bronze and cloisonné bronze architecture is very finely crafted and richly distributed throughout (the outline of the motifs is in gilt brass, the cells filled with enamel in different colors).
The bronze dial, protected by a domed glass, bears the inscription "Mayot à Lyon." This is the seller's. The mechanism plate is stamped "Fabrique d'horlogerie à Paris, A.D. Mougin," a clockmaker listed in the Tardy dictionary of French clockmakers.
The original mechanism, unmodified, strikes the hours and half-hours on an antique bell.
