"Perpetual Calendar - Boin Taburet - 19th Century"
Perpetual Calendar - Wall-mounted thermometer by Boin Taburet in Paris. Painted and gilded wooden structure imitating marble and bronze. Two gilt bronze plaques (original gilding), one supporting a perpetual calendar (date, day, and month) set by silver discs, the other a centigrade thermometer. At the top, a miniature painted on wood depicting a putto playing with a small dog. All parts are original. Note the exceptional quality of the painted elements. Signed: Boin Taburet Paris, engraved on the front. France, Paris, circa 1880. Boin Taburet was a major Parisian silversmith from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, specializing, among other things, in mounted objects. Excellent overall condition; the miniature is in perfect condition, the calendar and thermometer are functional, the original backing paper is slightly worn.
