"Spanish Rapier (sword) With A Tang - Spain, Late 17th-first Half Of The 18th Century"
Spanish rapier (sword) with a tang - Spain, late 17th-first half of the 18th century. The hilt has a tang, two large quillons, and a guard branch. The grip is made of beautiful fluted horn. This type of horn was rarely used in the manufacture of European weapons of the period, perhaps influenced by Barbary sabers. The straight, double-edged blade has a central fuller on the first quarter. In the fuller, on each side, is the inscription: "PETER ?????????" (Unfortunately, I cannot decipher the cutler's surname). The grip has a little play, but the overall construction is solid. Weight: 780g. Length: 111cm. Blade length: 92cm.
