Model Year XIII (13) pistol converted to percussion - France, First Empire. The lock plate is marked "Manufacture Impériale de Saint Etienne" (heavily worn) and bears the control mark "J" for Etienne Javelle (retired in 1812). The remaining parts are stamped with the crowned "P" of Jean-Baptiste Pozon. The hammer holds the first cocked position perfectly, the second is temperamental and does not always fire on the first shot. Good trigger, powerful percussion. A crack in the wood at the bottom left of the lock plate, without affecting the overall strength. The ramrod is a makeshift replacement.
