"Imposing Chinese Cizhou Ceramic Jar - China, Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) Or Ming Dynasty "
Imposing Chinese Cizhou ceramic jar - China, Yuan dynasty (1271-1368) or Ming dynasty (1368-1644) Cizhou ceramics appeared during the Song dynasty (960-1279) in present-day Hebei and Henan and lasted until the end of the Ming dynasty. Generally for utilitarian purposes (storing cereals, alcohol, etc.), these ceramics are characterized by a simple, even rustic, but elegant appearance and refined decoration. Here, this large jar is painted with brown decorations of stylized birds and other symbols on a white slip background. Due to the long production period of cizhou ceramics, this type of jar is difficult to date, which is why I do not propose a precise dating of this piece and propose the broad period from the Yuan dynasty to the end of the Ming dynasty.
