Large Renaissance-era carved stone bust of an elderly man facing left; he wears a heavy collared tunic, a long, flowing beard, and a headdress with a turned-up brim, typical of the period. The figure's face has suffered damage, as is common with many works of art damaged during the French Revolution. Despite its size, this sculpture remains a beautiful and highly decorative piece, exuding strength and presence. It has retained a lovely antique patina. French work dating from the 16th century.
