Antique Rahla Saharan Tuareg Camel Saddle
Artist: Touareg
A very beautiful antique camel saddle from the early 20th century. This Rahal is representative of the folk art of the Saharan Tuareg of that era. It is an uncommon model, embellished with brass studs fixed to the wooden elements forming the handles and backrest. The entire piece is also fully covered in period leather with a beautiful patina. We also note the presence of an ornate leather tassel. The lower edge is decorated with knotted leather strips. The two metal seat supports are also original, as are the straps holding the rings. A similar model is in the collection of the Saharan Museum in Le Crès, in the south of France. It is sold with its Berber wool bag, most likely from the Agadez region. The entire set is in good condition, unrestored, and retains its beautiful patina. Length: 75.5 cm Height: 72.5 cm x 39.5 cm. The photos also serve as a description. Worldwide shipping in sturdy and appropriate packaging and boxes.
