"The Milkmaid Clock After Louis Croutelle"
A sublime "Milkmaid" clock from the First Empire period, circa 1807, after the model and drawings of Louis Croutelle (1765-1829). A similar model is in the Louvre Museum (see 2nd photo), a clock listed in numerous horology books, in Kjellberg page 433... Clock in mercury-gilded bronze, exceptional original matte and glossy gilding, bronze horse with a very beautiful and original black patina, its eyes are enameled. A very expressive and beautiful horse. The clock's movement, serviced by a watchmaker, includes its pendulum and key. It features a lovely striking mechanism for the hour and half-hour on a bell. The dial is enameled, and the hands are mercury-gilt. This clock is complete; no parts are missing (rare). Everything is original and from the period. Height 40 cm / Base 29 x 11 cm. UPS shipping.
