Silver-plated Metal And Orange Glass Box With 6 Seal Impressions, France, 20th Century
Elegant rectangular collector's box, ideal for a cabinet of curiosities or refined desk decoration. This box is a remarkable example of mid-20th-century French silversmithing, blending heraldic tradition with modernist design (circa 1950-1970), reminiscent of the Grand Tour seal boxes. High-quality silver-plated metal with a beautiful patina from use. Hallmarks under the base: a silversmith's mark depicting a passant lion (heraldic lion) and a weight mark guaranteeing the quality of the silver plating. The inner lid is adorned with a bright orange glass plate (reminiscent of Italian aesthetics or Murano glass), offering a striking visual contrast. The glass display showcases six embossed seal impressions, reproducing major historical motifs: a large rampant lion, symbol of sovereignty and strength; a displayed eagle on a shield, a classic imperial motif; and a Seal of Majesty depicting a seated figure (sovereign type). (ecclesiastical) Various heraldic elements: Eight-pointed star, shield with a cross, and fleur-de-lis. Fairly good overall condition - The silver-plated metal has an authentic patina, and the glass is quite well preserved.
