Large Chinese Blue And White Porcelain Dragon Dish, Xuande Mark, 20th Century
A large Chinese blue and white porcelain dish decorated with five five-clawed dragons moving through dense lotus scrolls, painted in underglaze cobalt blue. The design draws on early Ming imperial prototypes associated with the Xuande and Zhengde periods and reflects a 20th-century revival of this highly regarded decorative language.
A six-character Xuande reign mark is painted to the rim, used in the traditional apocryphal sense to reference admired 15th-century styles. The unusually large diameter gives the dish strong visual impact and makes it an effective interior display piece.
