Mug, Meissen Porcelain, Polychrome Decoration: Flowers, Fruits, Insects, Mid-18th Century
Meissen. Rare porcelain tankard, circa 1750-1760. Hard-paste porcelain, white glaze, hand-painted decoration of floral bouquets, tulips, peonies, fruit (including peaches and plums), and small wildflowers, with insects. The Meissen factory mark: crossed swords in blue, is faintly visible in the center of the exterior base. Gilt copper mount, rocaille-style gadrooned lid, acanthus thumb rest. Handle shaped like a stem. Very good condition.
