Leon Sazerat, Vase, Cachepot, Centerpiece, Limoges Porcelain, Floral Decoration And Gold Paste

Artist: Léon Sazerat ( 18312 -1891 )
Magnificent ball-shaped cachepot with floral decoration, entirely hand-painted and enhanced with gold paste. This beautiful vase comes from the Léon Sazerat factory (1831-1891). Léon Sazerat was born in Limoges on April 10, 1831. He was the only porcelain maker from the Limoges region to have completed his apprenticeship at Sèvres. He settled in Limoges in 1852, and his work was noticed at the 1855 Universal Exhibition, earning him an honorable mention. A practitioner devoted to research, he simultaneously explored porcelain, earthenware, and enamel. He also began producing underglaze-painted earthenware, which he exhibited in Paris in 1878. The quality of his work earned him a gold medal. In 1886, at the height of his artistic powers, he participated in the Exhibition of Applied Arts to Industry. Organized in Limoges, he exhibited a collection of 87 fantasy pieces in porcelain, earthenware, and various stoneware. He died on May 27, 1891. His partner continued until 1894 before ceasing operations. This splendid cachepot bears the stamp "LS / Limoges / France" in chrome green, impressed into the clay. The letters: LS. Dimensions: height: 13.5 cm; diameter: 8 cm at the base / 18 cm at the widest point / 12.5 cm at the neck. Shipping within mainland France: 20 euros; for other destinations, please contact us.
