Large square pewter bottle with a molded screw-on stopper.
Control mark: crowned C / DIJON / 1743.
Mark of Martin Rollet, master craftsman in 1743: phoenix / sun / MR / 1743.
Height: 32.2 cm.
Dijon (Bourgogne), mid-18th century.

First recorded example of this type of object.
In good condition and very clearly hallmarked. Its function remains unclear, as specialized literature is silent on the matter. This could be a laboratory or pharmacy bottle, or perhaps a Sainte Huile reserve from a deanery or bishopric.
