This important oil on canvas is housed in its original woodwork, carved with flowers, shells, and acanthus leaves with a gray-green patina—one might even say an almond green.
Look closely at the photos; the woodwork is very finely carved with flowers and interlacing patterns, floral motifs with a few small blossoms, all forming a large frame.
At the bottom center is a large acanthus leaf.
The whole is very harmonious.
The large oil on canvas is inspired by antiquity and Bacchanalian scenes, where Silenus, usually drunken, is mounted on a goat surrounded by bacchantes and fauns.
Here, the painter has playfully created a version with angels and putti, featuring a putto riding a goat surrounded by mischievous puttos and an angel in a woodland landscape.
