Émile Gilioli (Paris, 1911–1977) was a French sculptor. He was one of the leading figures of French abstract sculpture in the 1950s. In 1947, he exhibited at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in Paris. In 1966, he created the fresco (a red, black, and white mosaic with geometric patterns) in the entrance hall of the "Le Périscope" building on Avenue d'Italie in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. In 1997, for the 20th anniversary of his death, the city council decided to acquire Émile Gilioli's house and studio, thus fulfilling the wish expressed by his wife, Babet Gilioli, to create a memorial to the artist. In 2004, the house and studio were transformed into a museum and library, which now houses a permanent exhibition retracing his work. In 1997, the Maillol Museum organized an exhibition in his honor from February 27 to May 15 in Paris.
