"Empire Clock Frankrijk Anno 1810"
Empire style mantel clock, France, 1810. Dimensions: Height: 43 cm Width: 32 cm Depth: 15 cm. Signed: Caillovel de Paris. Description and photograph available in the book "La pendule française" by Pierre Kjellberg (page 390, figure B). Mantel clock similar to the one at the Château de Fontainebleau, France. It features an anchor escapement and a rope pendulum, striking the hours and half-hours on a small silver bell. The mantel clock is richly decorated and retains its beautiful original gilding (see details).
