Officer's sabre of the Royal Guard of Murat in the Kingdom of Naples. First Empire. Bronze hilt, single-branch guard, pommel with a long tail ending in the shape of an eagle's head. Crossguard in the form of quillons engraved in relief with the helmeted profile of "Mars," the god of warriors; curved quillon ending in a rosette. Wooden grip covered in calfskin and twisted with three brass wires. Slightly curved blade with fullers. Steel scabbard with two wide molded bronze bands and a bronze lyre-shaped chape. Blade length 80.5 cm, width at the ricasso 2.9 cm. Naples. First Empire. Murat period of Naples. Overall in good condition. Weapon length 89 cm.
