16th Century Small Candle Holder Sideboard
Elegant
small sideboard in solid walnut, carved and dark patinated. The piece is
distinguished by its small bracket feet and the classic period-style ashlar
work beneath the top. The geometric and floral carvings on the front lend it a
refined elegance. The sideboard consists of a door and a drawer, the latter
used at the time as a candle holder. On the back is an inscription with a cross
and two initials, likely referring to the church to which it belonged. It was
likely once placed in front of a kneeling stool. This is a piece of great taste
and refinement, capable of furnishing any space with class and a touch of
antiquity. Florentine manufacture, from the Renaissance period, circa 16th
century.
