Landscape Painting, Southwest France, Circa 1915. Oils On Cardboard (set Of 5 Small Works)
A series of five oil paintings on cardboard, one of which is on wood, by an anonymous artist, but displaying a beautiful technique and a strong sense of feeling in these landscapes of southwestern France, presumably in the Haute-Garonne region. These paintings are part of a series of small plein air works created between 1914 and 1918 (dated on the back). They are very charming, and most have their dates and locations inscribed on the back (see photos): "Pompertuzat Bell Tower 1917," "Foug Masson d'Ecluse du Canes" 1917, "Foug 1917," among other dates/locations that are less legible (see photos). One oil painting is double-sided, so there is no date or location inscribed on the back. Dimensions of these works: 16 cm x 9 cm. In good condition, suitable for an attractive display. Three sets of five works. (This set includes two or three)
