JAPAN - Edo Period (1603-1868). Samurai Wakizashi. KASHIRA and FUSHI in a set, made of engraved iron inlaid with gilt and silvered copper, decorated with a lobster and aquatic plants. Wooden TSUKA encircled by two matte silver discs framing large silver MENUKI depicting the mon of the Ishikawa clan. Patinated and engraved copper KOZUKA decorated with five figures in court dress, the blade signed. Openwork wrought iron kaku-maru-gata TSUBA decorated with a sickle. Wood and textured glossy black lacquer SAYA encircled by three silver rings. Simple copper HABAKI covered with a sheet of silver stamped with geometric patterns. Straight blade, regular, straight and very well-defined hamon, tang with one hole, unsigned. Sold with stand. Dimensions: 81.5 x 7.5 x 7.5 cm. Blade length including tang: 71 cm.
