Sèvres Mazeaud And Faverot Cup On A Foot, Porcelain With Speckled Gold Decoration
Artist: Sèvres
MAZEAUD and FAVEROT SEVRES Porcelain footed cup with speckled gold decoration, underglaze with nuanced green crystallization and gold highlights. The rim and foot of the cup are highlighted with a gold border. In perfect condition, circa 1950s. Impressed green mark underglaze: the Sèvres ceramic workshops, FMF. In 1946, Jean Mazeaud registered the trademark "LES ATELIERS DE CERAMIQUE FMF Sèvres Made in France." Jean Mazeaud studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1932-1935). He briefly worked as a modeler at the Sèvres factory (1945-1946), long enough to meet Jean Faverot (who died around 1990). The two joined forces to create their workshop in Sèvres, from which this lovely bowl originates. This small workshop, which didn't last very long, only about fifteen years, produced beautiful ceramics with gold leaf. Sincerely, Philippe Verdier
