Depicting an Orientalist scene painted around 1870 by Charles Aurant, a French painter active in Paris around 1866.
This wooden panel bears the stamp and label of the Momper firm in Paris, which was active from 1843 to 1888 (Source: Labreuche Guide).
It has a crack across its entire width, which has been repaired; otherwise, it is in good condition.
The painting, previously cleaned and slightly soiled, is in very good condition and shows a repainting across its entire width following the aforementioned crack. This is barely visible to the naked eye and becomes more apparent under UV light.
In its original 1870 frame, which is in good condition, with visible wear to the gilding.
Authentic attic find in good condition.
