Dimensions: Diameter 8.5 cm. France, circa 1840. Double-sided box in pressed wood with a slightly raised profile. On the front, a captioned portrait of Louis-Philippe, King of the French, in military uniform, and on the back, a Legion of Honor medal. A fine example of Napoleonic fervor in the 19th century, and more specifically around 1840, when the Emperor's ashes were officially repatriated from Saint Helena to Les Invalides. Condition report: signs of wear, some losses to the tortoiseshell.
